Education and Adventure, on a server built for kids.

EduCraft is a small, private Minecraft Java server where kids learn real skills: writing Lua programs on in-game computers, engineering contraptions, running farms, bakeries and shops, then setting out to explore a shared survival world. No strangers, no PvP, no chat with the open internet.

The Education part

A curriculum kids do not notice they are taking.

Every mod on the server was picked because it teaches something while it plays like a game. This is the actual pack, not a brochure: the same six threads run through the in-game guide book every new player receives.

01

Write real programs

In-game computers run genuine Lua. Kids start with a turtle that digs a straight line and end up automating whole farms, and every skill transfers directly to real-world programming.

Mods: CC: Tweaked, Advanced Peripherals, CC:C Bridge

02

Engineer contraptions

Cogs, belts, pumps and pistons with believable physics. Windmills grind grain, drills mine stone, trains connect bases: mechanical cause and effect, learned by building.

Mods: Create

03

Farm, cook and bake

Crops need planning, recipes need ingredients, and a working bakery or vineyard needs both. Food chains from seed to plate, with patience as the hidden lesson.

Mods: Farmer’s Delight, Bakery, Vinery

04

Run a shop

A real in-game currency with coins, tills and price tags. Kids set prices, make change, watch stock run out and learn why the lemonade stand math has to work.

Mods: Lightman’s Currency

05

Take on quests

A bounty board posts jobs: gather, craft, deliver. Reading a brief, finishing the task and collecting the reward is its own little lesson in follow-through.

Mods: Bountiful

06

Read the manual

Every new player spawns with an illustrated guide book written for this server, and a recipe browser answers the eternal question: what can I make with this?

Mods: Patchouli, Just Enough Items

The Adventure part

Then they close the book and go exploring.

It is still survival Minecraft: a shared world with mountains to cross, caves to light and bases to defend from creepers, tuned so the danger is exciting instead of cruel.

Waystones across the world

Build and name warp stones, link them into a network, and the walk home from a far-off expedition becomes a single step. Naming the map is half the fun.

Maps they draw themselves

A minimap and a world map fill in only where a player has actually been. Blank space on the map is the invitation: someone has to go see what is there.

Danger, calibrated

Survival mode on easy difficulty: monsters spawn at night and in caves, but nobody loses a week of work to one bad evening. PvP is off, so players fight the world, never each other.

How to join

Four steps from zero to online.

You need Minecraft Java Edition on a PC or Mac, and about ten minutes.

Sign in to Minecraft Java Edition

The server accepts real Microsoft-account logins only, the same account that owns Minecraft Java. That is a safety feature: every player is a verified, named account, never an anonymous client.

Get a mod launcher and import the pack

Install the Modrinth App, Prism Launcher or ATLauncher, then download the pack below and open it with your launcher (or use the launcher’s Import button). It installs Forge 1.20.1 plus the exact mod versions the server runs, so client and server can never drift apart.

Ask FullHearts for access

EduCraft is invite-only and stays that way. There is no signup form and no instant access: a parent asks FullHearts for a place, sends the player’s exact Minecraft username, and a human adds it by hand. We only add players we can vouch for, and removal takes effect immediately.

Send the Minecraft username only, never a child’s real name. Usernames are case-sensitive, so copy it exactly as it appears in the launcher.

Contact FullHearts for access

Add the server and play

When your request is approved we send the server address along with the confirmation, privately. In the game: Multiplayer, then Add Server, then paste it in. The port is the default, so the address alone is enough.

Press Play on the EduCraft instance itself, not on plain Minecraft. A launcher will happily start an ordinary copy of the game, and an ordinary copy has no Forge, so the server turns it away before it ever reaches the whitelist. The instance should say Forge 1.20.1. This is the single most common reason a whitelisted player cannot get in.

Full manifest

Every mod in the pack, and why it is there.

Taken straight from the pack manifest, version numbers included. The server runs the same list plus its own invisible safety tooling, described in the Parents section.

EduCraftClient v1.1.0 · Minecraft 1.20.1 · Forge 47.4.20. Server-side mods (chat filter, block logging, permissions, and the worldgen and structure packs) are not part of the client pack: the server builds that terrain and your game renders it without needing the files.

Built like it matters, because it does.

The honest version, not the marketing version: here is exactly how access, chat and moderation work on EduCraft.

  • Access by request, enforced. Nobody joins unless we add their exact username, and removing a name kicks that player immediately.
  • Verified accounts only. Online-mode is on, so every player is a real, paid Microsoft account. Anonymous and cracked clients cannot connect.
  • Chat is filtered and small. A profanity filter runs server-side, and the only people in chat are the handful of kids on the whitelist.
  • No PvP, no gear cheats. Players cannot attack each other, the server refuses flight outright, and everyone stays in survival even after an admin session.
  • Every block change is logged. Rollback tooling records who placed, broke or took what, so griefing is provable and reversible, not a he-said-she-said.
  • Hardened hosting. The server runs in a locked-down container (read-only filesystem, dropped privileges) on a fire-walled cloud host with security auditing and automated backups.
Questions

The ones we actually get asked.

Does my kid need to buy anything?

Minecraft Java Edition (PC or Mac) is required, one purchase from Microsoft. The modpack, the launcher and the server itself are free.

Will this run on our computer?

The pack likes about 4 GB of memory given to the game and a mid-range machine from the last five or six years. In the launcher, allocating 4 GB of RAM to the instance is the one setting worth checking.

Why does it say I am not whitelisted?

Either the request has not been processed yet, or the username has a typo. Access is granted by hand after you contact FullHearts, so it is never instant. Usernames are case-sensitive letters, numbers and underscores: send the exact spelling and we will fix it in minutes.

It says failed to connect, or shows an error full of code.

Almost always this means the launcher started plain Minecraft instead of the EduCraft instance. A normal copy of the game has no Forge, so the server refuses it during the handshake, before it ever looks at the whitelist. Being whitelisted does not help until the modpack is the thing that launches.

Close the game, go back to your launcher, and press Play on the EduCraft instance itself. It should say Forge 1.20.1. If that instance is not there, import EduCraftClient.mrpack from this page again.

Newer copies of Minecraft often cannot even display the server’s explanation, so instead of a plain message you get a wall of technical text mentioning sockets or a connection reset. It means the same thing: wrong instance, no Forge.

Can they play from a friend’s house, or on holiday?

Yes, from any network, anywhere in the world. Access is granted to a Minecraft username, never to a home address, a router or an internet connection, so nothing needs changing when a player travels or visits someone else.

The requirements are the same three every time, in this order: launch the EduCraft modpack, sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft Java, and have the username on the whitelist. Meet those and the location is irrelevant.

The game says the mods do not match the server.

Your pack is out of date. Download EduCraftClient.mrpack from this page again and open it with your launcher. The pack and the server are built from the same list, so the versions will line up.

Watch for this: the Modrinth App creates a new instance when you import a pack, it does not update the one you already have. So after importing you may have two EduCraft entries, and launching the old one will fail in exactly the same way. Check that the instance you press Play on lists the new mods, and delete the old entry to save confusion later.

What is FullHearts, and why do I contact them?

FullHearts is our partner project and the future home of this server’s web presence: modpack distribution and the join page will live under the fullhearts.app domain as it comes online.

They are also the way in. Every whitelist request goes through FullHearts, where a person reads it and adds the username by hand. Nothing on this page grants access, which is the point: there is no form a stranger can fill in to reach a server with children on it.
